Two persons were rushed to the hospital after a Fly Jamaica aircraft, destined for Canada, ran off the airstrip of the Cheddi Jagan International Airport, Timheri early Friday morning.
There were 118 passengers on board and News Room understands that after about 45 minutes in the air, the pilot turned back after experiencing difficulties.
Reports indicate that the plane crashed into a fence at the airport and only came to a halt after encountering a large pile of sand.
Minister of Public Infrastructure, David Patterson is currently at the scene and News Room will provide more details as it becomes available.
